Has that dead branch on this young tree decided it no longer wants to be on this tree? Has the orange cone below it zapped it with a death ray? It’s more likely that when this part of Lincoln Street was repaved, the culprit was hot exhaust coming out of the top of some of the construction equipment.
The damaged limb may leaf out again or may have to be removed.
